. . . Spaniard felt Swans deserved share of spoils at St Mary's
Angel Rangel reflected on the Swans' frustrating defeat to Southampton at St Mary’s and insisted: “It was just one of those days.”
The Swans went down 2-0 on the south coast following goals in each half from Adam Lallana and substitute Jay Rodriguez.
Michael Laudrup’s side created a number of chances, with Nathan Dyer seeing his effort strike the post while Michu and Jonjo Shelvey also went close.
But Mauricio Pochettino’s side defended sternly to ensure they claimed victory, which sees them move into fourth place.
And Rangel, who led the side on his return from an ankle injury, felt the Swans deserved something for their efforts.
“It was a big disappointment for us,” he said. “We created very good chances and dominated the majority of the game, but the ball just wouldn’t go in.
“We should have got something from the game - It was just one of those days.”
The Barclays Premier League now takes a week off due to the international fixtures, with the Swans next facing Sunderland on October 19 at the Liberty.
And Rangel feels the break will give the squad time to rest following a busy schedule which has included Europa League commitments.
“We have two weeks rest and hopefully it will recharge the batteries and ensure we are ready for the next few games which are very important for us,” added the Spaniard.
“It will be good to rest as we’ve had a lot of games in a short space of time, but it will be a long 13 days as we go into the break on the back of a defeat.”
