Rory Donnelly has been ruled out of Swansea City’s friendly at Bournemouth on Friday with an ankle injury that will need an operation.
The Swans face the Championship side at the Goldsands Stadium (7.30pm) as preparations for the Barclays Premier League campaign continue.
But Donnelly won’t feature as he is due an operation, set to rule him out for three months, following ankle ligament damage sustained in the friendly win at Plymouth last weekend.
It is a setback for the 22-year-old striker, who played in both of the Swans’ games during the recent tour in America.
There is better news surrounding Spanish trio Angel Rangel, Jordi Amat and Chico Flores.
Rangel missed Tuesday night’s 2-0 victory at Exeter City with a dead leg, but he could be available for Saturday’s trip to Reading (3pm).
Amat and Chico also missed the midweek clash at St James Park, but the centre-backs are hopeful of returning to training next week.
For this Friday’s trip to Bournemouth, the Swans are set to take a youthful squad containing a number of Under-21s along with some first-team fringe players.
