Gerhard Tremmel has predicted a bright future for two of Swansea City’s young Welsh talent.
Tremmel made his first appearance of the season in Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup victory over Barnsley at the Liberty, with the German keeper among seven changes to the starting XI.
And Tremmel was hugely impressed with full-backs Ben Davies and Jazz Richards as they both played big roles in the victory over the Championship sides.
Davies made his first start – days after his Premier League debut off the bench against West Ham – while Richards helped set up the second goal just moments after replacing Angel Rangel just before the hour mark.
And Tremmel was pleased with their efforts as the Swans progressed to the third round of the competition.
“Ben had a really good pre-season and he deserved to play,” said Tremmel. “For his first start for the club he was very good. He did his job very well and he played with a lot of maturity.
“Jazz came on and did well too. He came into the game and made a big impression straight away. You could see in his performances last season that he is a mature player and has a bright future here.
“It was a good night for both of them and the great thing is for the club is that they are both young, Welsh and talented. We can be very proud of that.”
The draw for the Capital One Cup third round will take place tonight at around 10pm and can be found on the Swans website.
