. . . former Liverpool star takes centre stage in Liverpool programme

Jonjo Shelvey insists he loves his new life by the sea after swapping Liverpool for Swansea back in the summer.
The midfielder arrived at the Liberty Stadium from Anfield for £5m back in July after just 31 starts in three seasons on Merseyside.
Shelvey, who started his career at Charlton and was the club’s youngest-ever player, has made a flying start to life as a Swan with his all action midfield displays.
And the England international, speaking to Jack Magazine for Monday’s clash against Liverpool, revealed he has settled in well to life in south west Wales.
“I’ve enjoyed every minute of it,” he said. “It’s a very friendly city, and the club is very family-orientated and everyone looks after each other.
“Also, you can see how far the club has come by just looking at the new training facilities.
“Everyone I spoke to, even the people at Liverpool like Joe (Allen), Brendan (Rodgers) and Colin Pascoe couldn’t speak highly enough of the club.
“I felt I was ready to play Premier League football and make a name for myself and get back to the status that I once had.”
For Shelvey, Monday’s game isn’t just about coming up against his former club.
The 21-year-old will go head-to-head with Steven Gerrard, the man who pulled on the same red shirt as Shelvey during his time at Anfield.
And the youngster admits it will be a dream come true to face his boyhood hero.
“I’ve always looked up to him, ever since I was a kid,” said Shelvey. “I watched him when I was growing up and he was the one that my dad singled out.
“It’s just ridiculous how good he is, and in my opinion he’s the best English midfielder that this country has ever seen.
“I always said that I wanted to play both with him and against him by the time I finished my career - that way you can judge yourself on how good you are.”
Also in Monday’s edition of Jack Magazine, we take a look back at the 1948-49 season our ‘Swansea City Years’ feature, and we spoke to new signing Alvaro Vazquez as he prepares for his first taste of Premier League action.
As well as this, former Swan Leighton James looks back at a classic clash against Liverpool and we continue our ‘A-Z of Liberty Jacks’ as Guillem Bauza, Marcus Bean, Craig Beattie and Fede Bessone are profiled.
Finally, Michu is put ‘Under the Spotlight’, while we have some important travel information for those of you heading out to Valencia for Thursday’s Europa League clash in the Mestalla.
There is all this and much, much more so don’t forget to get your hands on a copy from around the Liberty Stadium.

The new-look bumper 76-page magazine is a must for every Swans fan and will be available around the ground, the club shop and online, plus Slee Stores in Plasmarl, Coggers on Wind Street and Browns Newsagent in Landore.

Jack Magazine . . . it really is too good to miss.
