. . . bitter blow for Swans defender
Swansea City defender Neil Taylor has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a broken ankle.
Taylor was stretchered off after just 20 minutes of Saturday’s Barclays Premier League clash with Sunderland and immediately taken by ambulance to Morriston Hospital.
Having gone straight into theatre for surgery, it was confirmed that the left-back had dislocated and broken his ankle in three places.
It’s a bitter blow for the Welsh international who has shone in the Premier League following his rapid rise from Conference football with Wrexham.
The 23-year-old made 38 league appearances last season and started all three games this campaign.
“The surgeons worked hard on Neil’s injury last night and did a very good job,’’ explained Swansea’s head physio Kate Rees. “He is comfortable and the surgeons are happy with the operation.
“While he should make a full recovery, the extent of the injury means Neil is likely to miss the rest of the season.’’
