. . . Hernandez hails Michu after his national call-up

Spanish international Pablo Hernandez believes Michu has finally got what he deserved following his call-up to the national team.
The current world champions have included the Swans star in their squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Belarus in Majorca on Friday and Georgia in Albacete three days later.
And Hernandez, who won the first of his four Spanish caps in 2009 after coming on in place of David Villa – the man Michu has replaced in the squad, believes his team-mate’s inclusion is perfect reward for his performances since arriving at the Liberty.
“I was very happy to hear Spain had called up Michu because he really deserves it,” said Hernandez. “Of course, he scored 22 goals last season and he has started this season very well too, but he brings much more than goals to a team.
“He is someone who is very passionate for the team and he works very hard too – on and off the ball.
“In Spain there was talk of him getting a call-up not so long ago, but now everyone has seen his performances and I think after the Valencia game they knew it was time for him to be included.
“I hope he gets to play in the games. It would not only be good news for Michu but also the club too.
“It is very difficult to break into the national team – they are the European and world champions full of players from Real Madrid and Barcelona.
“So for Swansea City to have someone included in the Spain squad is a massive achievement.
“I’ll actually be back home in Spain during the games, and I’ll be watching on TV cheering on Spain and hopefully Michu too!”
Hernandez also feels Vincent del Bosque’s decision to include Michu in his squad has boosted the international hopes of the Swans’ Spanish contingent.
He added: “When the national coach has picked a player from a club, it shows he is watching your team.
“So the Spanish players here are hoping to impress him (del Bosque) for the future.
“We are all excited for Michu because he has been very consistent since he came here and now he gets his reward with Spain.
“And if we all play well for Swansea in the Premier League then we may have a chance of being selected for Spain too.”
