Ferrie Bodde's Message Board

Posted on: Wed 24 Feb 2010

Swansea City would like to thank all those fans who have contacted the club to pass on their good luck messages to Swans midfielder Ferrie Bodde.

Ferrie, who has been ruled out for the season with a second cruciate knee ligament injury, is currently in Holland waiting for another operation.

Fans can email their messages of support to Ferrie via info@swanseacityfc.co.uk. We'll pass them on for you,

Here are a selection of those messages for Ferrie to read.

I'd just like to wish Ferrie Bodde the very best in his recovery from another devastating injury.
We're all behind you, mate! You can do this and come back to be the player you were before. You are and always will be the best player to pull on the white shirt.
Rob Davies

Ferrie good luck and get well soon. We have been starved of your talents again this season. I look forward to your return and hopefully you will sign an extension of your contract soon.
Nick Selby

Get well soon Ferrie. Hope you get well soon, maybe even force in an early comeback?
Jordan Lewis

Just wanted to wish you all the best on the road to recovery. Be Positive. Be Strong. And I look forward to seeing you in a Swans shirt in the 2010/11 season.
PS: I still watch your goal at Preston (below) on a daily basis. I was fortunate to be at the match that evening behind the goal and it is the best Swans goal I have ever seen!
John Williams

Ferrie Bodde

I've been reading Alan Tate's comments in today's paper and hope you try to be positive as Wes Brown got over the same problem you've had and is still playing in the Premiership with Man Utd. Unfortunately I couldn't make Saturday's game but was gutted for you when I heard what happened. Look forward to seeing you back in action and scoring 40-yarders again!
Stephen Hill

Good luck with your recovery and I wish you all the best. I look forward to some more 40 yarders in the future and I will still wear my Swansea shirt with your name on the back with pride in 5-a-side football.
Matthew Harrison

Alright Ferrie. I'm so gutted as much as you that you're out for another season. I missed you last season when you got injured against Birmingham. You were banging the goals in before then and if you didn't get injured I'm sure you would have fired us into the play-offs. Don't give up the dream of the Premiership. Hope you recover well and back in a Swansea City shirt soon.
Joshua Thyer

To overcome such a bad injury is admirable. To overcome it twice would be heroic. But you are one of Swansea's heroes and you can do it. Best of luck big man. We're all with you.
Dave & Eddie Williams

I've been a Swans supporter since I was too young to remember. I'm only 22 now, but in my 11 years as a season ticket holder, I can comfortably say that you are the most talented player I've had the pleasure to see pull on a Swans shirt. Everybody I know, including myself, refers to you as "the best midfielder outside of the Premiership", which makes your run of rotten luck even more rotten.
On Saturday it looked like a precautionary measure, so to see the results of your scan is quite devastating. I can only imagine how you must feel, after spending so long recovering from the last time.
I'm sure I not only speak on behalf of Swansea City fans, but of football fans across the country, when I say we all wish you the absolute best and pray that we see you again in our team.
You are part of the Swansea City family, regardless of what happens from here on.
All the best, we are all wishing you a speedy recovery.
Matt Barroccu

Ferrie

Hi Ferrie. Keep believing, we all know that you will come back stronger, fitter and better than ever.
Ralph Davies aka Brnojack,
Czech Republic

Get well soon Ferrie. Can't wait to chant you Jack B****** soon.
All the best.
Mark Evans

From all of my family, get well soon mate! We know you will beat this - you will be back to lead next year's assault for promotion.
All the best Evil Genius!
Mark Griffiths

Having gone through the pain of cruciate ligament surgery and rehab myself, I still can't begin to understand what Ferrie must be going through. Whatever happens Ferrie, you're a Jack and with that comes an awful lot of support and good wishes. Best of luck with your recovery and there will be an even warmer welcome on your return. Stay strong!
Andy Nak

Ferrie, gutted to see that you've got to go through this once again. But head up mate we're all behind you and surely this time you will come back much stronger as this is a massive blow to the club and us fans really needed you in the centre for us this season. But we'll get ourselves together and do this for you!
Jack Army
Jason Evans

Ferrie, wishing you all the best in your recovery. Gutted for you. Keep your chin up mate - you are a fighter. I'm sure you could come back and I'm glad we didn't sell you as you are probably one of the best players ever to put on a Swansea shirt. You stuck by us when other clubs have turned your head. Here's hoping that when you come back next season we can be in the Premier League to give you the stage your talent deserves.
Once a Jack, always a Jack
Scott Thomas

I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery!
All the best
Jamie

Ferrie Bodde

Ferrie, my Dutch is not too good but here goes.....
Wij allen denken over u.
Neal

Just a short message to wish Ferrie all the best and a speedy recovery and God willing you will return to play for us again and grace the shirt you have worn so proudly. Truly one of the best players to have ever played for the Swans.
All the best for a speedy and full recovery.
Jeza, fm Port Talbot

Hi Ferrie, all fans are so sad that your cruciate knee ligament injury has recurred. Sad for our football team that you grace so superbly and sad for you that you must again delay your return to football. We are confident that you will come back stronger from this experience. When you do it will be a fantastic boost for all Swansea Jacks and so deserved for you after this bad luck. Get well soon and all our best wishes to you.
Andrew Winfield

Good luck Ferrie, gutted to see this happen to you. My 11-year-old could not wait to see you put on a Swans shirt again this season, he's now devastated for you. Keep your chin up in these dark times; there will be light at the end of this long tunnel for you. Many a pro has had to deal with this injury a couple of times, just keep positive and you will get back to where you belong, gracing the Liberty Stadium.
Simon L Jones

Phil Bray

Keep your chin up Ferrie and defy the odds by returning before the end of the season. I wish you a speedy recovery lad.
David Jones

Best wishes Ferrie, keep believing you will play for us again and with style. Will see you soon. Best wishes - Jack Army.
Paul Dennis

Thank you for all the pleasure you have given me when you have played for the Swans. I have every confidence in your strength of mind to overcome this setback and I look forward to seeing you in a white shirt as soon as possible.
Wyn Thomas

Ferrie Bodde

Awful news to hear you're out for the rest of the season again. I've no doubt from watching you play that you're a special player and when you do come back you will again show how good you are. Your words of loyalty when other clubs were after you this summer, and when you changed your mind about going to Derby, has really gained the respect of myself and many others in a time where money seems to dictate these decisions. Good luck with your recovery and keep your chin up because you still have much to offer in your career.
Owen Carter

Hello Ferrie, I'm writing on behalf of myself and my Swansea City supporting family in expressing our sympathy with you and your family over your devastating injury news. Even though you don't know me, we have met briefly, when my wife and I and a group of about 12 Swansea supporters met you in Schipol Airport, Amsterdam, about 18 months ago. We were so surprised and delighted to see you there, to meet up with you, considering how many millions of countrymen you have.
All Swansea supporters were proud of you making your Championship comeback on Saturday. I was even at Neath to watch you play against Swindon Town recently and spoke to you at the end of the match as you walked off the pitch to wish you well. It is therefore truly heartbreaking to hear the awful news that you will miss another season. I'm sure knowing the strong character you possess that you will 'battle back' to fitness again for the second time and you will once again wear the white shirt of Swansea City. My family and I want to wish you all the very best of luck in your rehabilitation.
You can do it Ferrie!!!
Tim, son Sam and wife Linda Bowen

Dear Ferrie, I was gutted to hear the news that you will again miss the whole season due to the same injury. Words that people pass on must come nowhere near the way you feel, but hope they do help in some way. I really hope you come back from this a second time as you are the best player I have seen in a Swans shirt for the last 15 years that I have been following them.
Tom

Ferrie, my thoughts are with you and I wish you a speedy & trouble free recovery! I think that I speak for all the fans of Swansea City that we can't wait to see you back in a Swans shirt. Take it a day at a time, stay positive and you'll be back before you know it!Dan Bennett

Good luck Ferrie. Look forward to seeing you play again in a Swans shirt and scoring another 40 yard goal. Just remember that feeling - you will get there!
David Williams

Keep the faith mate, we didn't forget about you last time this happened and we won't forget you this time! I'm already counting down till next season to see you splitting defences with your inch perfect passing and also your 45 yard thunder bolts! Footballs a funny game, and you never know, next time you pull on a Swans shirt we could be in the Premier League playing Man Utd and Liverpool.
Rhys Harries

Ferrie. I send all my best wishes for your speedy recovery. Know that all of us supporters would only want the best for players like you. Don't be disheartened by this new problem - you will come back stronger when you recover.
Marilyn

So sorry to lose you from the side again. Good luck for a full recovery. Please pass on your 'evil genius' to Joe Allen so he can keep it warm for you until you get back
JT (supporter for 33 years)

All the fans are behind you Ferrie. Gutting this has happened, but you can come back even stronger than before and hopefully your return will be in the Premiership with us. You'll get through this Ferrie. All the best and can't wait for your return in a white shirt.
Lisa Phillips

Ferrie, you are a cracking player and I know with determination and steel you will be back playing again. I look forward to seeing you in a Swans shirt again at the Liberty and still believe that you'll get the international call up you desire. I urge you to be strong and not be downhearted. You've proved you can come back from injury before and I'm sure you'll do so again. We're all behind you.
Darryl Eynon

Ferrie Bodde

Ferrie, I know you must be feeling so low at the moment, but there is always hope. You are the best midfielder I have seen play for the Swans and all the fans are so sad that this has happened again, but we all wish you nothing but the best for the future and we all believe you will come back and play for us again.
Please keep smiling, even though it's hard.
Luke

Dear Ferrie - absolutely gutted about your injury but try and keep your chin up. Shearer, Bellamy, Wes Brown, Van Nistlerooy have all recovered from serious knee injuries. As devastated as you must be, the club and the fans are totally behind you. Hope your recovery is a speedy one.
Sion Rees

Good luck Ferrie in your rehabilitation. We are all so gutted for you. You are a great player and will return a great player. Remember you belong to one big family here and we are all routing for you. Can't wait again to see you return, which you will.
You are the "evil genius"
Gerwyn Watts

Terrible news Ferrie, but keep you spirits up and show your strength, determination and belief in coming back as strong as ever. If anyone can do it, it's you. It's been a total pleasure watching you for us the last few seasons; rarely have I seen a player with your quality in Swansea. Already my hero.
Chris Eames

Gutted for you Ferrie. Hope you have a quick recovery and are soon pulling on the white shirt again. Swansea City is privileged to have you in the squad. Come back stronger.
Jeremy Lunn, Morecambe

Hi Ferrie, good luck on your rehab. i hope you come back stronger than before and prove all the critics wrong that you can be just as good as before. Don't give up.
Chris Rees

Ferrie, it's a travesty that this has happened and I'm sure I speak on behalf of thousands when I say that I wish you a full and speedy recovery! In my 12 years as a Swans fan never have I seen such an all rounder on the pitch; you have been an absolute asset to our team and a joy to watch.
Jamie Fenaroli

Ferre, I cannot imagine how you feel, but the thoughts, prayers and best wishes of me and my family are right behind you. You are a battler on the field and I am sure you will battle this latest challenge as well.

Keri Purcell and family
All the best. Best player I've seen in a Swans shirt in my 42 years supporting.
Marie Rees

Hi Ferrie, all us Swans fans are with you all the way. Keep going and somehow get in touch with those other footballers who've had a secondary knee breakdown and who have recovered to full fitness. You can do it also.
Peter a Swansea Jack

I was sad to hear you have had a recurrence of your injury and wish you a speedy full recovery. You have all our support and I look forward to seeing you back on the football field.
Jason

My best wishes. We have been so looking forward to your return to the pitch. But something this good is worth waiting a little longer for.
Dave Quick

Hope the injury isn`t too bad. Greatly missed, get well and hope to see you in a Swans shirt soon.
Robert James.

Beste Ferrie.

Most of us can only imagine what your going through, best wishes for a speedy recovery and fingers crossed it won't be too long before your back out there on the pitch playing your heart out and wearing your Swansea city shirt with pride. Keep your chin up through the tough times in recovery. Every swansea city fan is behind you 100%.
Daren King

Devastated as a Swans fan that we won't be seeing you again this season and also devastated for you to have to go through another lot of ops and rehab etc - it's too cruel. Best of luck with everything and keep fighting!
Nay

Quick message to our 'Evil Genius' - keep your chin up mate, it'll be worth the wait when we get you back on the field properly. Good luck and speedy recovery, were all thinking of you.
Craig Thomas

I feel truly devastated for you. I have been through the same injury as yourself and know how it feels to be in pain and discomfort, both physically and mentally. Best of luck with the surgery and the rehabilitation. It will be time consuming and will be hard, but you can get through this. You have proved your determination for getting through anything over the past few seasons, and without a doubt, I know you will get through this and will come back a much stronger player. Keep your chin up Ferrie, we are all behind you 100% and we would love to see you put the white and black Swans top on in the future!
Owen Davies

I'm a Doncaster Rovers fan and would just like to wish all the best to you Ferrie in recovering from such an unlucky injury. I cannot begin to imagine how devastated you must be feeling and I'm sure you have the strength of character to come back better than ever (a scary thought for a Rovers fan as you weren't half bad before!)
Adam Sellens

We can only guess what your feelings are at the moment, but we are all behind you in your battle to return to full fitness and return to the club where you are so admired. Please remember that at the Swans you are worshipped and rated as one of our best ever players of all time. We will never forget you, especially during your time away from us when you are once again fighting your way back from injury. We look forward to your return next season so you can once again show us your huge talent at the Liberty.
Pob luc
Jack D

I know you're going through hell right now, but this must not be the end of you. You have too much to give football and you will always have a home with us at Swansea. I can't wait to see you controlling a game again, spreading the ball around the Liberty with such class and assurance that makes the opposition teams look so bad and us look so good. I pray for you, that you may heal well and soon will be able to play the game we both love. Fight for it Ferrie, never give it up, and we'll keep your boots clean until you can come home to us.
Paul Evans

Good luck Ferrie, we are all behind you here at Swansea. You're a quality player and we all look forward to seeing you spraying it around and scoring beautiful goals.
Craig Chisholm

Ferrie, gutted for you mate. Absolutely top bloke. Met you outside the Keepmoat in Doncaster last year. Only too keen to sign our programme and have a photo with my son, which absolutely made his day.
Kevin Evans

Get well soon Ferrie. The club and the fans will still be here for you when you are ready to come back.
Emma Powell, Portsmouth

Dear Ferrie, on behalf of everyone involved with the Swans fanzine "A Touch Far Vetched!" I would like to wish you the speediest of recoveries after your latest injury blow. The fortunes of the football club take a back seat in situations like this and your well-being is uppermost in our thoughts at the moment. Keep your chin up and remember that the whole of the Jack Army is behind you.
Nigel Davies

Please pass on our very best wishes for a speedy return to the Swans team to Ferrie Bodde. He will be sorely missed but we're confident that he will return stronger than ever in a Swansea City shirt. Keep faith and belief Ferrie, you will be back better than ever.
Nigel & Annette

As a Jack I'm absolutely gutted to see one of the most talented players I have ever watched go down again and can only wish you the best of luck. Never give up Ferrie, there is always a way back. Hold your head high and come back stronger.
Jordan Hopkins

Chin up Ferrie my boy. Think of it as an extended pre-season. We are all behind you and can't wait to see you in the famous all white again.
Gethin Hughes

Hi Ferrie, best wishes and we hope you'll be better soon. Remember, always keep a smile on your face! Good luck for the future, hope you'll make a speedy recovery and we will see you back on the Liberty Stadium pitch sometime soon!
Angharad, Rhydian and Julie

Ferrie, just to let you know we're all thinking about you. Me & my lads are also devastated with the news of your injury. Best of luck for a speedy recovery - try not to look back at the past year but remember to look forward to the next five years.
JS

Hope you get better soon, gutted that it happened but if you can recover from one, you can do it again. All the fans are behind you, I look forward to seeing you play again.
Sian and Wyn

There are 21 of us who sit together in the East Stand and all would like to pass on their best wishes for a speedy and successful recovery. We are all behind you, and are confident you will be back to your best next season. Keep fighting and never lose the faith.
East Stand lads (sitting behind the Swansea City Union Jack)

Gutted you are out for the season again mate. Just keep positive because all our thoughts are with you. I can assure you we are all just as gutted as you are, probably more, so just stay positive mate
Gwilliam

Dear Ferrie, I was so disappointed and sad to learn of your most recent injury. We just wanted you to know (myself & my better half) that we think the world of you and we know that you can battle back from this setback. Please don't give up. We know you can get through this and carry on playing until your at least 36, so you have plenty of time left. Remember that the people of Swansea are right behind you and we want nothing more than to see you running our midfield again. We look forward to cheering you running out of the tunnel next season.
David & Amanda

There are thousands wishing you well and looking forward to seeing you back in the white shirt of Swansea. Get well soon mate. Once a Jack Always a Jack.
Ceejay

Keep your head held high Ferrie. The disappointment you're feeling is probably indescribable right now, but take heart from the fact you are and always will be a Swansea City legend and will always be remembered as a class act on the football pitch no matter what happens. A pleasure to watch. Chin up mate!
Ash Loynton

Ferrie, don't let your head drop mate you will be back stronger, fitter and better than ever.
Jeff

How unlucky can any one person be? You can get over this setback, others have, you will. Please be a model patient and give it your best shot; we do miss you. Having watched the Swans for over 40 years, I can honestly say that I have never seen any Swans team, at any time, that Ferrie Bodde wouldn't get in.
Keith Hopkins

Hi Ferrie, couldn't believe it when I read how bad your injury was. When you went off it didn't look too bad. You must be absolutely devastated after all that hard work. We believe in you Ferrie and know you can beat this. Remember you are a winner. You can do this again. Keep your chin up and stay positive. Don't be a stranger to us as we will still love to see you over at the Liberty for games.
Sarah X

Really gutted for you Ferrie. You are a legend at this club. You will beat this! Us Swans will be behind you every step of the way mate, all the very best. STID.
Jonathan Stroud

Ferrie, first of all thanks for the entertainment so far in your Swansea career, I've learned things about football from your play. We'll miss you over the next few months. II am sure that you will use the next few months to add something great to your life as you get back to full fitness. Can't wait to see you back; every day is a day closer to your return.
Adrian

Ferrie, sorry to hear about your devastating news. I sincerely hope you make a speedy recovery from this injury and can't wait until next season to see you grace the field in a Swans jersey again. Don't let this injury get the better of you and don't let it get you down. I have the utmost faith in your ability to recover from this and fully expect to see you scoring screamers once more. Chin up mate and come back better and stronger as ever before.
Martin Price

Hi Swansea City, I watched from a distance last season regarding Ferrie Bodde, he looked largely impressive until his knee ligament injury. I took an interest in the guy, as I am studying sports science and the ACL injury in which he has obviously fell foul to, I have done a lot of research on, being a footballer myself.
I had a quick look at your board last night, seems the large minority of you are not very confident of Ferrie returning.
One ACL injury = bad luck. Two ACL = very bad luck.
There is a lot of work to be done on his recovery and rehabilitation programme. But, if he is willing to be patient and work as hard as the physios tell him, he will be back without a shadow of a doubt.
It seems some of you are pessimistic on his return because he has had the same injury twice? Well, if you read the gossip column on the BBC, then you will see that Jimmy Bullard has just announced his fitness following the same ACL injury twice.
Also I would like to point you into one of the greatest players of all time, Ronaldo. After the '98 World Cup, he ruptured his ACL, only to come back several months later and do it again, but worse, after 11 minutes or so.
And then look at the World Cup in 2002, three or four years after, with around two and a half years of the four out with injury. He lights up the World Cup yet again and finishes top scorer and scores the two winning goals in the final.
Add to that, he is now in contention for the World Cup in South Africa, after doing brilliantly following his third, yes third ACL injury.
I just wanted to come and shed some light on the situation, and possibly inform some who weren't so clued up on the injury. If Bodde wants it, he can make a full recovery.
Good luck to Ferrie Bodde and Swansea City.
Stick together.
Liam Mountford

FERRIE
Keep your head up Ferrie,
Though at times it will be tough,
When you think the worlds against you,
And justice sometimes rough,

There are thousands of us around you,
Our thoughts are with you every day,
Willing you through recovery,
So that we can see you play,

Your a talent that we love,
And as fans we're privileged too,
And for lots and lots of reasons,
As a club we'll help you through,

Your loyalty to us is special,
And we will stand by you again,
So that you can play your football,
And your spirit will remain.

It's all about the player, its all about the man,
Someone who we all adore,
Lets hope its not too long Ferrie,
Before you grace our pitch once more.

Michael & Janet Westbrook

Ferrie, gutted when I heard the news. Good luck and get well soon.
Jack Evans, Bridgend

Ferrie, hope you have a speedy recovery mate. Everyone's behind you and hope to see your talent again soon.
Robert Nangalia

Dear Ferrie, here is a message from the Netherlands. At first I would like to wish you all the best during your recovery. When I saw that you needed to go off after just nine minutes against Sheffield United, my first thought was: Oh my God, not again.... But I'm sure and convinced, and together with a lot of fans, that you are a strong personality and that you will return into a Swansea City shirt again.
Finally I would like to say to keep the faith and belief in yourself. But remember that once you return stronger again, it will be a huge boost for everyone who loves Swansea City, especially for yourself! I'm looking forward to that moment.
I'll see you back in action next season, good luck and take care!
Dave van Bergen
