Swansea City have completed their second signing in the space of two days after securing the signature of Argentinian full-back Federico Bessone on a long-term, performance-related contract from Espanyol B.

Bessone, better known as Fede, played on loan at Gimnastic in the Spanish Segunda division last season and joins the Swans on the back of Mark Gower's arrival from Southend.

The 24-year-old started his career within the youth set up at Barcelona before playing alongside Swans striker Guillem Bauza at Espanyol B.

He joined Gimnastic last season on a one-year loan from Espanyol B where he was spotted by Swansea's chief scout Kevin Reeves and followed up by manager Roberto Martinez.

Born in Cordoba, the attacking full-back holds an Italian passport and therefore avoided any work permit problems.

"We are delighted to be able to bring in a player that will give the squad a different and added dimension,'' explained Roberto.

"He is an attacking left-sided player that we've been following for a long time. He will fit into the British game well and has shown a great desire to sign for Swansea.''

Fede arrived at the Liberty Stadium late yesterday to meet his new colleagues and complete the transfer.

"I'm delighted to sign for Swansea,'' explained Fede. "It's a new challenge and a new way of life for me.

"I have been following Bussy's (Gulliem Bauza) progress at Swansea on the internet. In fact, I've become a bit of an internet addict on Swansea.

"Bussy painted a clear picture of the club for me. And having shared a dressing room with him for two years, I've got the utmost respect for him.

"I would have come to Swansea anyway, but the fact that Bussy painted such a bright picture of the club made my decision that much easier.''
