Swansea City are currently on a seven-day tour of Spain which takes in games against Espanyol, Palamos, Peralada and Barcelona B. And as Roberto Martinez prepares his troops for the forthcoming Championship campaign, our official website team will be keeping you right up to date with a daily diary that get right up close and personal with the squad.

Day 5

The Swans fans at the Peralada friendly last night were treated to a strange sight during the second-half.

As the Swans were looking to stretch their first-half lead, the 10 players, minus Dorus de Vries, who played the first 45 minutes were seen strolling behind the goal in just their shorts with towel in hand.

For right next to the pitch was a swimming pool belonging to a local hotel. So while Swansea's second-half team were sweating on the pitch, the rest of the squad was taking a dip, much to the delight of the 200-strong Jack following.

Swans physio Richie Evans had spotted the pool on his arrival at the ground and immediately sent Jordi Gomez off to talk to the hotel owner to see if they could use it.

Never one to miss an opportunity, Richie saw the pool as the perfect place for the squad to warm down after the game to speed up the recovery process.

While Alan Tate gave the fans a wave before diving in, at least he left his rubber ring back in the hotel - along with Leon Britton's armbands!

Recovery is playing an important part in the tour in a bid to prevent dehydration in the soaring heat.

All the players have urine tests and their weight taken before and after each game, while they also wear heart monitors out on the pitch.

So far, the players are losing up to five pounds per 45 minutes played.

Non-playing member, Jason Scotland, is also shredding the pounds as he continues his five sessions a day.

Last season's top scorer, who is recovering from a stomach operation, has lost nearly six pounds so far.

Mind you, his daily diet is also being closely monitored and he wasn't happy when Richie Evans confiscated his cream cake after lunch yesterday.

He wasn't a happy chappy walking away with a yoghurt instead while the rest of the squad tucked into their treat.

The Swans fans also had a rude awakening on the dehydration front at the opening tour game against Espanyol.

The 500-strong following were in fine spirits during the first-half after enjoying the hospitality of the local bars.

And they were given a welcome boost as they headed straight to the bars inside the stadium at Palamos.

Although the larger flowed throughout the first-half, the noise levels dropped.

Unknown to the fans, they were in fact sobering up as all the lager within the stadium was non-alcoholic.

They won't be making the same mistake tonight as they return to Palamos Stadium for Swansea's third tour game!

While the Spanish clubs don't traditionally produce matchday programmes for friendly matches over here, the squad has been having some fun with the team-sheets produced on the Spanish tour.

Some of the players' names are being lost in translation.

For example, Dorus de Vries has become Dorns; Matty Collins has changed to Marty; Ferrie Bodde is now P Bodde; Mark Gower has switched to Crover; while Chad Bond is Bord.

With the squad training every day and playing four games in four days, kit lady Suzan Eames (pictured below) has her work cut out to keep on top of all the team laundry.

Suzan is trying hard to turn the plush hotel into a Chinese laundry as she builds washing lines in every spare space to keep up with the kit drying demands.

She's already taken over the hotel's posh wedding conservatory with washing lines strung from one end of the building to the other and supported by crates from the beer cellar.

She did start to panic though when she saw a bride and groom arrive in their wedding car for their reception at the hotel.

Fortunately, with the sun shining, they had booked the barbecue area instead before strolling further down the grounds for the traditional wedding photos; resisting the chance to get 35 pairs of underpants in the background.
