Kris is a true Jack
"Always was . . . always will . . . be a Jack''.
Those were the words emblazoned on the t-shirt Kristian O'Leary unveiled to the Liberty Stadium crowd as he left the field after just 14 minutes of his Testimonial show against West Brom.
Having made his league debut for the Swans over 12 years ago, loyal O'Leary got the reception and ovation he thoroughly deserved from the 6,000 fans enjoying the sunshine at the Liberty ahead of Saturday's Championship opener at Charlton.
Not even a bout of 'flu could prevent the Port Talbot-born stalwart from enjoying his big day as Premiership new boys West Brom made their first visit to the Liberty in honour of the 30-year-old.

"It was a very proud day for me and my family,'' explained O'Leary. "It's a shame I wasn't able to play longer, but if it wasn't for the fact that it was my own Testimonial I wouldn't have played at all.
"I picked up a virus on Thursday and spent all Friday in bed. To be honest, I feel rough, but I wouldn't have missed it.
"I think my children were a bit taken aback by it all and I'd like to thank the fans of both sides for making my day special. Because I'm a local boy as well, it makes it even more special.

"It's been a great day; nice weather and two good sides on display. It was a shame there were no goals, but I thought we played better football than the Premiership side.
"This is the best squad I've ever played with since I've been at the club. We took 28 players to Spain last week and every single one of them is capable of playing in the Championship.
"We are coming really good at the right time.''

As for his own hopes for the forthcoming season, O'Leary added: "I'll continue to work hard every day to get as many games under my belt as I can.
"I feel as fit as I ever have.''
Well apart from the virus that is.
"I've got a big night planned with family and friends at a local hotel tonight. I'll probably be off to bed though while they are partying, so they'll have to come and see me there,'' he joked.
