The Swans will entertain Cardiff City in the third round of the Carling Cup.

It will be the first meeting between south Wales' two Football League for a decade and comes two months ahead of the scheduled Liberty Stadium meeting on November 30.

Both sides have met in the competition before, once in 1985 and the other in 1988.

The Swans progressed after the first clash following a 4-3 aggregate score while Cardiff went on to win 2-1 over two legs three years later.

Victories over Brentford (2-0) and Hull City (2-1) sent the Swans through to round three for the first time in 26 years and Cardiff reached this stage with 2-1 wins over Bournemouth and MK Dons.
