Injury-time heartbreak for reserves
Swansea City's reserves were denied a first victory of the season thanks to an injury-time strike against a Bristol City side featuring ex-Swan Lee Trundle.
The home side battled hard and put in a workmanlike performance under the lights at Port Talbot's GenQuip Stadium and were rewarded for their efforts with a Joe Allen strike on the hour.
But they were handed a massive blow deep into injury-time when substitute Ashley Kington levelled for the visitors.
Colin Pascoe used a mixture of youth and experience for the game against the Robins; Owain Tudur Jones was named captain in a side that also included the likes of Matty Collins, Albert Serran and Kristian O'Leary.
Three scholars were also included in the starting line-up with all three putting in commendable performances, especially 18-year-old Casey Thomas.
Swans: Tony Pennock, Matty Collins, Albert Serran, Jamie Grimes, Daniel Sheehan, Casey Thomas, Joe Allen, Owain Tudur Jones (C), Kristian O'Leary, Chad Bond (Kieran Howard, 70'), Guillem Bauza.

Bristol City: Stephen Henderson, Jordan Walker, Andy Webster (C), Luke Wilkinson, George Boon, Joe Edwards (Ashley Kington, 57'), David Noble, Robert Stambolziev (Marlon Jackson, 70'), Lee Trundle (Nick Dunn, 78'), John Akinde.

The major talking point before the start of this game was if Lee Trundle would be involved following his appearance against Birmingham City the night before. He in fact started and was through goal in the very first minute only to be flagged for offiside.
Casey Thomas did well to cut inside past full-back Jordan Walker with five minutes on the clock andJoe Allen saw his 25-yard strike sail wide of Steven Henderson's goal four minutes later.
Midfielders Joe Edwards and David Noble both fired wide for Bristol City early on while Kristian O'Leary also got in on the action only for his strike to go over the top.
Port Talbot-born winger Casey Thomas was causing the City defence all sorts of problems down the left-hand side and on 14 minutes was able to cut inside of the area but couldn't direct his shot on target.
Trundle had his first chance of the match 60 seconds later, lining up and looking to convert one of his trademark free-kicks from the edge of the area only to be denied by the safe hands of Tony Pennock.

Chad Bond came agonizingly close to opening the scoring on two occassions; the first a well struck left-footed strike from the edge of the area which flew wide on 22 minutes and two minutes later the 21-year-old was denied by George Boon's last ditch tackle inside the six-yard area to force a corner.
Trundle thought he should have been awarded a penalty with 28 minutes on the clock, latching onto a David Noble ball over the top of the Swansea City defence he tussled with Albert Serran and went down inside the area but referee Brian James was having none of it.
His strike partner John Akinde, though, should have put his side in front immediately afterwards but fired his close-range effort over the top of goal.
The impressive Casey Thomas had the final say in an entertaining first-half as he latched onto the end of O'Leary's dipping ball into the area, the youngster took it down well under pressure but couldn't direct his shot on target.
Half-Time: Swans 0 Bristol City 0
The visitors came out strong at the start of the second period and Trundle was putting himself about inside the area and created two good chances for himself, forcing a 48th minute corner and from David Noble's flag-kick chested the ball down at the near post and fired a powerful volley just past the post.
Guillem Bauza did well to keep possession on the edge of area before shooting inches wide on 53 minutes and almost straight afterwards took down a high ball from Owain Tudur Jones but couldn't find the target on that occasion either.

But the deadlock was finally broken on the hour when Joe Allen found space 20-yards from goal and unleashed a sweet strike that beat Steven Henderson low to his right and nestled into the bottom corner.
The slender lead came under threat on 66 minutes as David Noble's pin-point ball over the defence saw Lee Trundle latch on and race towards goal, his strike from 12-yards beat Pennock but bounced back off the upright and that was to be his final contribution as he was replaced by Nick Dunn 12 minutes from time.
Casey Thomas continued to be a constant thorn in the Robins' side and almost found the net with a well-struck goalbound shot on 79 minutes only for Henderson to pull off a fantastic save to deny the youngster and force a corner and four minutes later he had another crack at goal which sailed over the top.
His fellow second-year scholar, Daniel Sheehan, could have made it two with just minutes left on clock as his dipping shot clipped the top of the crossbar following excellent work by goalscorer Joe Allen on the left-hand side.
But the home side were handed a massive blow deep into injury-time when the ball flashed across the face of goal and Ashley Kington was at hand to fire through a crowd of players to level for the visitors.
