A 73rd minute header from second-year scholar Matthew Wright was the difference as the Swans' reserve side beat Swindon Town 1-0 at Port Talbot.
The hosts, who featured no fewer than eight senior players in the starting line-up, were well worth their first win of the campaign at a bitterly cold GenQuip Stadium.
On loan Birmingham goalkeeper Artur Krysiak was given his first start in Swansea colours and in front of him a senior back line consisted of Matty Collins, Albert Serran, Federico Bessone and captain Alan Tate.
Kristian O'Leary featured in a midfield three alongside youngsters Lee Lucas and Ben Adelsbury while Andrea Orlandi and Chad Bond played on the wing's either side of lone striker Matthew Wright.
It took both sides a little while to get into this totesport.com Combination clash but it was the Wiltshire side that created the first opening as pacy winger Mark Marshall beat Matty Collins to the byline and delivered a low ball across the area where Barry Corr was inches away from connecting.
Andrea Orlandi set-up youngster Wright, who shot wide, and on 20 minutes the Spanish winger cut inside and used his skill to jinx into the area before having a shot on goal himself, but he could only place his shot the wrong side of the far post.
Barry Corr saw his low shot saved by Krysiak a minute later and just before the half-hour a sweeping move involving Ben Adelsbury, Kristian O'Leary and Orlandi created an opening for first-year scholar Lee Lucas, his deep cross found the head of Matthew Wright but he couldn't direct it on target.
The Swans found some momentum as the half was drawing to a close and Argentinian left-back Fede Bessone had two attempts on goal, one of which was with his right foot that flew just wide, before he was taken off a minute before the break as a precaution after taking a slight knock to his midriff.
Krysiak was forced into making his first proper save of the evening two minutes into the second-half as he tipped over a Michael Pook free-kick while down at the other end young winger Casey Thomas, a half-time replacement for Andrea Orlandi, fired over from inside the area following a fine move down the right-hand side between Kristian O'Leary and Chad Bond.
The deadlock was finally broken with 17 minutes left on the clock as Chad Bond picked out Matthew Wright on the six-yard box to head low to the left-hand side of Town 'keeper Peter Brezovan.
Matty Collins and former Plymouth youngster Wright both had chances as the game was drawing to a conclusion and Colin Pascoe's side held on for a fully deserved first win of the campaign.
