Result: Swans 4 Cheltenham 1

Posted on: Wed 25 Mar 2009

A young Swans side was named for the totesport.com Combination visit of Cheltenham Town which ended 4-1 in favour of the home side.

Chris Jones was the only professional on show while there was a start for under-16 defender Ben Davies who has been offered a scholarship for next season.

Jones shot wide early on and Dave Cornell pushed a Ryan Keen header onto his post before the floodgates opened just before the quarter hour mark.

The hosts broke the deadlock when Jones fired home from close-range while Anthony Finselbach doubled the advantage three minutes later.

A poor clearance by Robins 'keeper Will Puddy allowed Joe Harris to set up Jones for his second of the night on 18 minutes and the two combined yet again just before the half-hour, this time Jones picking out Harris to strike into an empty net.

The second period was a different affair as chances were few and far between for both sides and both 'keepers very little to do.

Cheltenham did grab themselves a consolation with 15 minutes remaining with subtitute Cathal Tosh squeezing a shot from distance between Cornell and the post.
