Swans4Schools set for Liberty debut

Posted on: Fri 25 Sep 2009

Over 1,000 local primary school children will be cheering on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium tomorrow afternoon as the club launches its Swans4Schools initiative.

The club has given away a total of 1,050 tickets for FREE to the young Swans fans of the future as part of an exciting new initiative to encourage our local kids to support our local club.

Taking up residence in the corners of the South 'Family' Stand on Saturday are pupils from St Josephs Cathedral Junior, Gwyrosydd Primary Treboeth, Pentrepoeth Junior, Graig Infants, Blaenymaes Primary, Terrace Road Primary, Birchgrove Primary, Cwmbwrla Primary, Glyncollen Primary Morriston and St Helens Primary School.

And one lucky child from each school will also get the chance to take part in a skills challenge on the pitch at half-time as the Swans look for their top "Sharp Shooter".

There's even a prize for everyone who takes part.

The aim of the Swans4Schools initiative is to make it a real family affair at the Liberty Stadium this season by offering every primary school child in south west Wales the chance to watch the Swans for FREE.

The Swans want to give new boss Paulo Sousa every chance of success in the Championship by packing the stadium for every game this season, while also encouraging our local children to support their local football club in a safe and friendly environment.

10 schools will be in attendance on Saturday

Not only will the club be giving away up to 1,000 kids tickets for selected games this season, but every primary school that takes up the offer will also have the opportunity to raise substantial funds for their school through subsidised adult tickets and exclusive signed merchandise.

Every child ticket will be distributed in a responsible manner through a relevant and responsible adult to ensure the youngsters enjoy their matchday experience in a safe and secure environment.

"The children of today are our fans of the future," explained Swansea City vice-chairman Leigh Dineen. "This is an exciting initiative that benefits everyone.

"Some of the children will get to see the Swans for the first time and I'm sure they will enjoy the footballing experience and unique atmosphere at the Liberty Stadium that will persuade them to come back for more.

"It's also a great chance for us to keep building on our close relationships with the local schools, while giving them the chance to raise vital funds for their own projects."

For those schools that have not already done so, they must register their interest by email to l.merrells@swanseacityfc.co.uk.

Mark the subject Swans4Schools and give full contact details.

A club representative will then contact the school with further details of the initiative.
