Swansea City are through to the last-eight of the FAW Welsh Youth Cup, but they were pushed all the way by visitors Cwmaman Institute.

First-year pro Casey Thomas was on target either side of half-time as the hosts set-up a tricky tie at Porthmadog with this 2-1 success.

Despite dominating the Sketty Lane tie from start to finish the young Swans fell behind early on against the run of play.

David John converted Darren John's seventh minute corner to give Cwmaman the lead but Casey Thomas levelled shorlty afterwards after Daniel Sheehan's initial shot was well saved by 'keeper Kurt Rogers.

Thomas and Sheehan were two of the professional players on show in a side mixed with first and second year scholars, as well as members of the under-16's.

Goalkeeper Rhys Wilson spent a majority of the game as an onlooker with the home side creating chance after chance to no avail.

Rogers was at hand to make some good saves to keep his side in the tie while Thomas and Anthony Finselbach both struck the woodwork.

But all of the possession counted for something 14 minutes from the end when Thomas scored his second of the afternoon, connecting with Ben Davies' right-sided cross and left Rogers with no chance.
