Pratley - We need to stay positive

Posted on: Thu 18 Feb 2010

Darren Pratley insists that the Swans must remain positive as they prepare for their next outing at Derby County on Saturday (3pm).

The last two results have ended as stalemates with both Newcastle and Plymouth robbing Swansea of maximum points.

But despite missing out on four points the Swans still occupy fourth spot in the Championship table, and Pratley maintains that his side will continue to battle and win each remaining game this season.

"We have got to stay positive," he said.

"We will go into every game like we do to try and win. Whether we won at Plymouth it wouldn't necessarily mean that if we get a point on Saturday we'll be happy because we go into every game trying to win.

"And that's what we will do when we go to Derby."

Pratley's goal at Home Park in midweek was his sixth of the season to take him clear at the top of the Swans' goalscoring chart.

He struck just 40 seconds after half-time to put the visitors in the lead only for that to be cancelled out in controversial fashion in the closing minutes.

And while he was happy with the goal he was frustrated that it didn't secure all three points.

"It was a good strike," he added.

"I had a bit of time on the ball, sometimes when you have that time you don't know what to do at first.

"I didn't know whether to chip it straight away but I took another touch and then managed to get a good strike on it.

"Obviously I was delighted to get the goal but then it was disappointing to come away with just a point instead of all three."
