Carling Cup draw takes place tomorrow

Posted on: Fri 27 Aug 2010

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United - just some of the big names in the hat for tomorrow's Carling Cup third round draw.

And the Swans - allocated ball number 27 - will be joining them for the customary 'pulling out' of the pot to determine the line-up for the next stage, set to place in the week commencing September 20.

The Carling Cup stage hasn't been the most successful in Swansea City's history with the run to the fourth round in 2008 - when rivals Cardiff were memorabily beaten in round three - the most progressive in two decades.

And after years on missing out on a glamour tie against one of the so called 'big' clubs, most associated with the club - particularly supporters - will feel that it's time for such a game.

Great memories of the FA Cup run of 2009 against Portsmouth and Fulham certainly sticks in the memory, but you'll have to go back to win '99 victory against West Ham for biggest tie before that.

There have been near misses at drawing Liverpool and Manchester United (after losing replays against Havant & Waterlooville in '08 and Fulham respectively), but will this be the year that the club get their big tie?

Whatever the outcome, Swansea City will be focusing on progression to the next round.

Full details of the draw will be revealed right here on your official website at approximately 12.30pm on Saturday.
