Swans take a look at former Chelsea 'keeper

Posted on: Tue 31 Aug 2010
Swansea City will run the rule over goalkeeper Yves Makabu-Makalambay this week.

The 24-year-old former Chelsea youngster will train with the Swans this week in a bid to impress as he seeks for a new club.

Makabu-Makalambay, who was born in Belgium but has represented DR Congo at full international level, was released from Scottish side Hibs in the summer following three years at Easter Road.

And as a free agent there is no rush to make a decision on him before Tuesday's 6pm transfer deadline.

During four years at Chelsea he didn't make a first-team appearance - though he did make the bench for a Champions League tie against Barcelona - and that prompted a move to Scotland in 2007.

The 6' 6" shot stopper played 64 times for the SPL outfit but didn't have his contract renewed when it expired season.
