The mid Wales outfit struck twice in 60 seconds to go 2-0 up but by the time Howard was introduced 20 minutes from time the Eagles were 3-2 to the good.
Matthew Harris made it four before Richard Ingram completed his hat-trick on 86 minutes; Caersws added a third in the very last minute.
Defender Jamie Grimes, meanwhile, played his ninth game for Haverfordwest County in their 1-1 draw at GAP Connah's Quay.
