A Rory Fallon double, a late Lee Trundle classic and rare goal from Izzy Iriekpen secured Swansea City three precious points in their promotion quest at the Liberty Stadium.
But it was nail-biting stuff in the end with the Swans nearly throwing away a three-goal lead.
Bournemouth made a late comeback to reduce the deficit to 3-2 before Trundle put the result beyond doubt with a fourth deep into injury time.

Swansea welcomed back skipper Darren Pratley from an ankle injury that kept him out of the 1-0 defeats at Northampton and Peterborough.
Izzy Iriekpen also recovered from a toe injury, while Andy Robinson was passed fit from an ankle injury to celebrate his 27th birthday with a starting place.
Leon Britton was also back on the right of midfielder after sitting out a one-match ban.
Lee Trundle and Rory Fallon led the front line with young striker Chris Jones on the bench with Adebayo Akinfenwa.
Manager Kenny Jackett opted to go without a second goalkeeper in Andy Oakes on the bench.
They faced a Bournemouth side struggling four places off the bottom with new manager Kevin Bond given the task of reviving their fortunes.
Bond's side were without a win in 10 games and had yet to win away from home this season.
But they had skipper Steve Fletcher back from injury, while 17-year-old defender Jack Cork - son of former Swans manager Alan Cork who was at the game - arrived on loan from Chelsea in time to make his debut.
The Swans made a great start as they opened the scoring after just four minutes.
Lee Trundle swung in a corner which goalkeeper Gareth Stewart failed to gather and central defender Izzy Iriekpen arrived to bundle the ball home for his first goal of the season.

Swansea could have gone further ahead in the 12th minute from another corner. This time Pratley delivered it, but Fallon saw his header fly inches wide.
Trundle was looking sharp as he waltzed his way clear inside the area. The striker delivered a cross to the far post which Ryan Bertrand cut out. Fallon connected with the rebound, but Stewart was well placed to save.
Swansea were enjoying plenty of possession and looked threatening every time they went forward as Fallon met a cross from Tom Williams with a difficult header which again flew inches the wrong side of the upright.
Britton was the next to try his luck with 24 minutes gone, drilling a shot just over.
In fairness to Bournemouth, they continued to play a passing game without troubling Willy Gueret in the Swansea goal, while Pratley drilled a 25 yard effort wide at the other end.
Gueret was finally called into action in the 36th minute when he got down well to save a shot from Steve Foley at the expense of a corner, but Swansea were soon back on the attack without having to move up through the gears.
With the half coming to a close, Swansea were still looking for that second goal to kill the game off.
Half-time: Swans 1 Bournemouth 0
Swansea were given a timely reminder that there was still a lot to do to guarantee themselves the three points as former England international Darren Anderton drove a fierce shot just wide from the edge of the area as the home side failed to clear their lines.
The first substitution of the evening arrived in the 51st minute as Shaun Macdonald replaced Owain Tudur Jones with the midfielder still carrying a toe injury sustained at Northampton last Saturday.
But with Bournemouth enjoying their best spell, Swansea finally got the second goal they so desperately needed.
A great run by Britton played in Robinson who found Williams on the overlap. The full-back's cross looped over Stewart and was heading in before Fallon looked to have got the final touch.
Fallon was certainly claiming the 57th minute goal, although there was some doubt over whether Williams's cross was already over the line.
But there was no doubt over Swansea's third two minutes later. Trundle worked his way to the by-line before delivering a deft cross which Fallon met with a great header.

Bournemouth looked dead and buried now as Danny Hollands replaced Franck Songo'o.
There still looked more goals left in Swansea, however, as Robinson and MacDonald came close.
But as Swansea took their foot off the gas, the visitors pulled one back with 12 minutes to go as substitute Hollands was allowed too much time on the ball to fire a shot beyond Gueret from 12 yards to make it 3-1.
Bournemouth immediately replaced James Hayter with Brett Pitman, while Kevin Amankwaah came on for Pratley who was feeling the effects of his ankle injury.
With six minutes remaining, Swansea were in danger of throwing it all away as substitute Pitman reduced the deficit even further when he headed home from close range to make it 3-2.
But with the game deep in injury time, Trundle put the game beyond any doubt as he curled in a superb effort from just inside the area to make it 4-2.
