New Swans boss Roberto Martinez watched from the stand as his side slipped to defeat at Yeovil Town.
A second half header from Marcus Stewart was enough to give Yeovil victory at Huish Park and leave the Swans five points off the play-off zone.
Stewart met a 55th minute free kick from Nathan Jones to head beyond Andy Oakes.
The closest Swansea came to an equaliser was when Andy Robinson had a late shot cleared off the line by Jones.

Swansea caretaker manager Kevin Nugent took charge of this League One encounter at Huish Park with Roberto Martinez looking on from the stand after of his official appointment as the club's new manager on a two year contract.
Nugent dropped goalkeeper Willy Gueret to the bench with Andy Oakes given his chance between the posts.
Kevin Amankwaah was also given a start at right back following the injury to Richard Duffy (foot), while Kevin Austin came in to the centre of defence following another injury to Izzy Iriekpen (hamstring). Alan Tate started in the middle of midfield after Darren Pratley's dislocated shoulder ruled him out for a month.
He was joined by Leon Britton, back from a dead-leg, Andy Robinson and Kristian O'Leary.
Pawel Abbott started up front alongside Lee Trundle after Adebayo Akinfenwa was ruled out for the rest of the season with a broken leg sustained in the 2-0 defeat against Scunthorpe.
Yeovil manager Russell Slade reverted back to a 4-4-2 formation, bringing in Martin Brittain for Arron Davies and Marcus Stewart for the departed Leon Best.
There were relatively few clear chances created by either side throughout this contest.
The home side made their intentions clear in the first minute, however, when Stewart just failed to connect with Cohen's low cross.
Swansea responded 11 minutes later when Abbott connected with a fierce shot from eight yards which was well saved by Mildenhall.
It was a fairly even contest at that stage as the dangerous Stewart fired just wide before forcing a good save from Oakes.
The Swans defence was having to defend as the half closed, however, with Oakes dealing with anything the Glovers' attack could throw at him.
Half-time: Yeovil 0 Swans 0
After a slow start to the second half, the game livened up again and Swansea had a good shout for a penalty turned down when Andy Robinson was brought down in the box by Brittain only for the referee to wave play on.
It proved crucial as Yeovil recovered to make the crucial breakthrough in the 55th minute.
Swansea conceded a free kick 25 yards out. Nathan Jones delivered a telling cross with his trusted left foot and Marcus Stewart arrived to head the ball beyond Oakes for his first goal since rejoining the club.
The Swans upped their game in search of the equaliser with Leon Britton a constant threat down the right.
The equaliser nearly arrived in the 69th minute when substitute Ian Craney, on for the injured Kevin Austin, fired a good chance over the bar before Abbott forced Mildenhall into another good save.
But it was obvious to Nugent and the watching Martinez that it wasn't going to be their day as Lee Trundle's shot was cleared off the line by Jones with six minutes remaining.
With Swansea laying siege on the home goal, they were nearly caught on the counter attack when Stewart just failed to make contact with a Davies cross at the death.
The victory moved Yeovil up to second, while the Swans slipped to ninth, but just five points off the play-offs.
