Roberto Martinez's homecoming ended goalless at the Liberty Stadium as Swansea's new manager saw his side waste a host of chances in front of goal.
Despite dominating from start to finish, the Swans couldn't add the finishing touch against an Orient side who were reduced to 10-men late on with the dismissal of Adam Chambers.

New Swans manager Roberto Martinez received a tremendous reception from the Family Day crowd as he made his Liberty Stadium homecoming.
For his first home game in charge, he was without a host of players through injury while Dennis Lawrence and Kevin Amankwaah were suspended.
Richard Duffy was also struggling to overcome an ankle injury and had to be content with a place on the bench as Roberto shuffled his defence.
Tom Williams started his first game following a hernia operation at left back. Marcos Painter moved into the centre to partner Izzy Iriekpen as he made his return from a hamstring injury, while Alan Tate skippered the side from right-back.
With the Swans looking to edge closer to the play-off zone after their win at Rotherham in midweek, they faced an Orient side battling against relegation at the other end of the table.
Swansea made a bright opening as they tried to pass the ball short at every opportunity and they should have taken the lead in the 13th minute.
Lee Trundle played a great ball through the centre of the O's defence which Ian Craney latched onto after beating the offside trap.
But as he raced clear on goal, he fired his shot wide with just the 'keeper to beat.
Swansea were still well in control when Trundle, looking dangerous, set up another chance when his cross picked out Iriekpen unmarked inside the area. But the defender headed over from eight yards with 18 minutes gone.
Then Andy Robinson sent a 25-yard free-kick heading for the top corner only for Welsh 'keeper Glyn Garner to pull off a great save to keep the scores level with 13 minutes of the half remaining.
Still the goal wouldn't come as Swansea stepped it up a gear, Pawel Abbott coming close at the far post before Kristian O'Leary fired wide.
Leon Britton played Abbot in in the 40th minute, but the striker's first time shot flew straight at a well-placed Garner.
Swansea did have the ball in the back of the net on the stroke of half-time, but Trundle's shot was rulled out for offside.
Half-time: Swans 0 Orient 0
Swansea made a positive start to the second-half as Trundle fired into the side netting early on before forcing two corners which the Orient defence cleared.
Again Swansea should have taken the lead in the 57th minute when Britton's pass split the Orient defence straight down the middle.
Trundle ran on to the pass, but with just the 'keeper to beat his shot was palmed behind by Garner as another chance went begging.
Swansea were keeping possession and passing well, but they just couldn't create enough openings as the crowd broke into full voice in a bid to spur them on with chants of ''Martinez Barmy Army'.
They were silenced for a second as the noise reverberated around the stadium as Orient midfielder Shane Tudor lobbed a rare shot just over Willy Gueret's bar with 67 minutes gone.
With 13 minutes remaining, Swansea were given a helping hand as Adam Chambers was sent off for a second yellow card after a challenge on O'Leary as Orient were reduced to 10-men.
Swansea made their first substitution with 10 minutes remaining as Tom Butler came on for Williams, while Orient replaced Wayne Corden and Shane Tudor with Luke Guttridge and Adam Tann.
Butler almost made an immediate impact as he cut in from the left to fire a long-range shot which Garner did well to push around the bottom of the upright. From the corner, Abbott's shot was cleared off the line by Gary Alexander.
With four minutes remaining, a great turn from Trundle inside the box put him clear, but his shot was deflected into the side netting.
