Oldham 2 Swans 1
Oldham boss John Sheridan admitted his side was "fortunate'' to come away with all three points for their League One opener at home to Swansea.
Speaking after the late 2-1 victory, Sheridan admitted: "I think we were fortunate. We didn't play well but we've won the game against a Swansea side that played very well.
"Swansea passed the ball well and looked a very good side.''
Swans boss Roberto Martinez remained upbeat, despite the opening day defeat.
"It was heartbreaking, but if you are going to lose a game that's the way to do it. The boys showed great character in the second half and there were many positives.
"If we played like that in 10 games we would win nine. We controlled the tempo, had the better chances and I was very happy with my players. They showed their pride but now we have to turn performances like that into points.
"The new players gelled together straight away and standards were set. I am sure the points will come. I am confident of that if we keep performing this way.
"Jason Scotland's finish was fantastic and he held the ball really well with Darryl Duffy, their partnership up front was brilliant at times.''
Scotland, who grabbed the Swansea equaliser after 55 minutes of his debut, added: "I'm very pleased to get off the mark on my debut, that's a positive," he said.
"But it's disappointing that we didn't win the game, everyone's a bit down as we felt we deserved at least a point.
"But we welcome Walsall in the Carling Cup on Tuesday then there's a big game with Nottingham Forest at the Liberty Stadium next Saturday, so we have to pick ourselves up quickly."
