Owain Tudur Jones is set to hand Swansea City a pre-season boost by overcoming his latest injury setback.

The 23-year-old missed out on Wales's friendly with Holland earlier this month after picking up an ankle injury in the 1-0 victory in Iceland a few days earlier.

Tudur Jones, who has been plagued with long-term injuries for the past 17 months, is set for a full recovery though by the time Roberto Martinez's squad report back for pre-season training next Thursday.

And that has delighted the Spaniard, who clearly sees the former Bangor midfielder as a useful option as his team begin their Championship preparations.

"Owain will be 100 per cent fit by the time we are back for pre-season training," revealed Martinez.

"He has a slight problem with his ankle, which is nothing serious, but he will have some rehabilitation on it and then he should be fine.

"It was disappointing that Owain missed out on a fantastic experience against Holland, because you can really learn from these games.

"But he has had a break know, which he needed anyway, and that should allow him to recover properly."

Tudur Jones has missed the past two pre-seasons at Swansea due to injury.

And Martinez expects him to continue his development throughout the summer.

"Every players needs to get a decent pre-season behind them for two reasons," said Martinez. "One, it prepares them for the demand of a season.

"Two, so that nobody gets a head start.

"Owain is a character that has been missed in the last two pre-seasons and I think this will do him a lot of good.

"He has suffered with injuries in the past, and it is difficult when it is the knee because it's complicated.

"But Owain is coming back stronger and more mature as a footballer and that's great for him as well as Swansea City."
