Paul Anderson has told Roberto Martinez that he wants to rejoin Swansea City.

But there are still no guarantees that the Liverpool youngster will return to the Liberty Stadium for a second season-long loan stint because a deal is yet to be ironed out.

Martinez flew back from a holiday in Ibiza last week to hold face to face talks with Anderson amid interest from a host of other clubs.

But although the winger indicated that Swansea were his preferred choice, there are still hurdles to clear before a move is agreed.

Chairman Huw Jenkins revealed earlier this month that
Swansea would be prepared to pay Liverpool a loan fee in excess of £100,000 in order to secure Anderson's services for another 12 months.

But the Evening Post understands both
NottinghamForest and Derby - the club trying to land Ferrie Bodde - are willing to stump up around three times that amount just to borrow Anderson for a season.

Martinez last night refused to discuss exactly what Anderson's future rests on, but insisted the former Hull youngster could be a Swansea player in time for the start of pre-season training later this week.

''I met with Paul and we agreed that as far as football reasons go it's clear, he wants to play for SwanseaCity,'' Martinez said.

''We are delighted about that, but there are three parties here, ourselves
Liverpool and the player, and we must all come together now on an agreement.

''We all know how excited Paul is about playing Championship football and we're delighted that he wants to do it with us.

''Paul has told me he wants to come back here and that he is happy to carry on his development with
Swansea, but now we need to finalise things.''

Anderson has attracted the attention of a string of Championship sides after netting 10 Swansea goals to help them to the League One title last season.

Forest had been touted as possible front-runners for his signature because Anderson's father is based in nearby Melton Mowbray.

That would also count as an advantage for
Derby, but Martinez is adamant Anderson would prefer a return to Wales.

''Paul is on the verge of signing a new contract at Liverpool and we are delighted because we feel that is partly a result of the steps forward he made with us last season,'' the Swansea manager added.

''Now we hope to carry on our relationship, but there's been a lot of interest in Paul and other clubs can try to make offers to try to break that relationship. That's what happens in football.

''
Liverpool are in a very busy period and we have to find the right moment to come together with them to finalise things. They will have the final say, but I think we will know very soon what they think.''
