New boy Fede Bessone has revealed how he went from chatroom to changing room after falling for the Swans online.

The Argentine ace completed his switch from Spain to South Wales yesterday, becoming Roberto Martinez's fifth new signing of the summer.

And the arrival from Espanyol has admitted he had his heart set on the Liberty Stadium having become hooked on the club on the internet.

The defender, 24, is good pals with Swans striker Guillem Bauza from their time together with the "Blanquiazules" and followed Bussy's progress last year via his computer.

And the defender, who spent last season on loan at Segunda side Gimnastic, admitted: "In the beginning I didn't know much about Swansea. But I have a good relationship with Bussy and when he joined I kept an eye on his progress and how things were going for him here.

"I kept in touch with him and I soon became a Swansea addict on the internet. After that I just hoped that one day I would be attached to the club and now that's happened.

"Knowing Bussy has helped in a way because I knew what sort of club I was joining. I shared a dressing room with him for two years so I respect his opinions. We played for two years together and I know what sort of person he is so I know I can take what he says seriously.

"But he didn't help me make my mind up for me - I made the choice to come to Swansea - but Bussy did paint a very clear picture for me.

"He couldn't speak highly enough about Swansea City and the English leagues. After that, I couldn't wait to join him here."

Bessone joins Wales defender Ashley Williams, wideman Mark Gower and Spanish duo Jordi Gomez and Gorka Pintado as the new recruits at the Liberty, with pre-season training stepping up a gear tomorrow after the squad underwent fitness and body-fat tests over the last 48 hours.

But Martinez is certain to add more bodies to his squad over the coming weeks, with another La Liga import due imminently in the shape of defender Albert Serran.

Martinez is still chasing a goalkeeper to challenge No 1 Dorus de Vries while loan bids for Manchester United's Febian Brandy and Liverpool youngster Adam Hammill have not been ruled out in the wake of Paul Anderson's decision to join Nottingham Forest.

With the future of Ferrie Bodde still to be cleared up, there could be plenty of twists before the Swans boss starts to plan a starting XI as he plots to make an impact on the club's Championship bow at Charlton on August 9.

But he is known to be hugely excited at the arrival of some of his key targets, with Bessone ready to challenge Marcos Painter for the left back role.

And after the impact made by Angel Rangel last season, Bessone added: "In terms of settling at a new club, it will help having so many Spanish players here. But I am here to play football and be successful in my own right.

"I am a very committed defender and I give 100 per cent to making sure I cover my defensive duties. But it is still part of my nature as a player to go forward and enjoy myself in an attacking sense.

"I like to push forwards down the left channel. But I will always be very responsible in terms of my defensive duties."

Martinez has insisted he will be ready to shift his attentions to the domestic market after his La Liga talent spotting but the Catalan knows he will have to make room in his squad before adding too many more faces.
