Roberto Martinez hailed Shaun MacDonald as a potential Premier League player after the local lad struck his first Swansea City goals in last night's Carling Cup win over Brentford.
MacDonald, from Blaenymaes, netted in either half in front of his family of Swans fans as Martinez's men eased through to round two.
It was some night for the 20-year-old, who last started a Swansea game way back in December 2006 after suffering with growing pains. And Martinez conceded that MacDonald, who is nicknamed the Welsh Zinedine Zidane by his team-mates, could now be ready for a regular role in Swansea's Championship campaign.
''All the players will tell you that if the fans could pay to watch Shaun training they would,'' the Swansea manager said. ''The quality he has got is immense and it's great to see him use that to produce two great finishes.
''Shaun has got all the attributes to be an important player, not just in the Championship but at the highest level.

''It's just down to him to make sure his body allows him to express himself.
''He has struggled in the past with growing pains, but he has had a great pre-season and everyone is starting to see the results. He has not missed training in seven months and he is one of four wide players we have who all have as much as any other to play a part this season.''
The one downside in Swansea's 2-0 win was a rib injury which saw debutant Fede Bessone stretchered off.
But Martinez said: ''At first we thought he had broken some ribs, but after further assessment we are hopeful that it is just a heavy bang.
''We will have to wait for the results of an X-ray, though, before we are absolutely certain.''
