Dorus de Vries confirmed he was fouled in the build-up to Plymouth's disallowed goal as Swansea City claimed their first away win and clean sheet of the season.

Argyle looked to have pegged Swansea back when defender Marcel Seip nodded home Jason Puncheon's corner five minutes into the second half, but Essex official Andy D'Urso upset the locals by ruling it out.

There was major confusion as to why the goal had been scrapped, but the reaction of the Plymouth players seemed to suggest there had been a clear foul - on whom remained a mystery.

But de Vries confirmed that he had been fouled in the build-up, with replays confirming that ex-Swan Rory Fallon was the offender.

''There was a foul on me,'' de Vries declared. ''I was pushed in the back as the corner came in. I went down and the ref blew up straightaway.

''I'm not sure if there was a foul somewhere else, but it was a great call by the ref because it was in a packed area.''

Apart from the disallowed goal, de Vries had one of the quietest afternoons he is likely to experience in the Championship this season.

The Dutch keeper, though, was full of praise for his defence as they dealt comfortably with the direct style of the Pilgrims.

''It's a tough place to come as they have a lot of experience in the Championship,'' he said.

''I was very pleased in getting a clean sheet. As a keeper, it's such a big confidence lift to come away with a clean sheet and a victory.

''We knew they were going to be putting the ball in the air. That's the way they play. It's not the way I would play, but we dealt with it well.

''We were aware of Rory Fallon as the boys know a lot about him, and we focused on that.

''This is what this season is going to be about. We have already faced teams that play a different style and we have done great so far.

''We have six points from three games and that is a very good start.

''There is a lot of talent in this group and there will be a lot of pressure coming our way.

''But if we win games like this then it will help us achieve our targets. I can't wait until the next game now. Everyone in the squad is buzzing with excitement.''
