Hot off the Press - July 8

Posted on: Fri 09 Jul 2010

The season may be over, but the Swans are still in the news - and we'll bring you the stories right here on the official website.

The Evening Post is reporting that Paul Tisdale is to rule himself out of the race to become the Swans' new manager.

The highly rated Exeter boss was believed to be Swansea's No. 1 choice to take over from Paulo Sousa at the Liberty Stadium.

But the Evening Post understands Tisdale does not want to be considered and has told Exeter's board that he sees his immediate future with them.

It is the second summer in a row Tisdale has been linked with the Swansea job.

Last year he came close to replacing Roberto Martinez at the Liberty before deciding to stay with Exeter.

Meanwhile, chairman Huw Jenkins has confirmed that the club has received many applications for the vacant Liberty hot seat.

"We have had a lot of applications and a lot of phone calls," he said.

"We always do. I could give you 50 names by the end of this process. But, at the end of the day, it all comes down to one person.

"Then it's all about whether it is the right time for the person we want. There are a lot of factors to be considered.

"At the moment I am very open-minded about all the candidates. There is no definite route that we need to go down.

"The main thing is that we make the right appointment. It's not important where that manager comes from.

"There are no lessons to be learned from what happened with Paulo."

The chairman has also confirmed to the BBC that no fresh offer has been made for Darren Pratley by Nottingham Forest.

Forest had a bid turned down for the midfielder in January but Jenkins said:

"There's obviously speculation but we haven't received any further approach from Nottingham Forest.

"Looking in the papers, it seems they may be coming back in with an offer."
