The former Dutch Under-21 international goalkeeper signed a two-year deal with the club in the summer after Swans boss Roberto Martinez fought of competition from two Scottish Premier League clubs and a clutch of Championship sides for the free signing.
The highly-rated 28-year-old started his career at Dutch side Stormvogels Telstar before moving to Den Haag in 2003 and then Scottish side Dunfermline where he earned rave reviews.
Played a pivotal role as the club secured the Coca-Cola League One title and was ever-present for Roberto Martinez's side in the league, missing just two cup games all season - one in the FA Cup and the other in the FAW Premier Cup.
The Dutchman also enjoyed a fine season between the sticks in the club's first Championship campaign but did spend a month on the sidelines earlier in the season following an horrific facial injury picked up against QPR in October.
He returned to action in the midweek draw at Coventry in late November but was required to wear are a protective mask.
