The Swans secured the signature of the Uefa Cup winner on a two-year deal in the summer of 2009.
López was at the top of manager Paulo Sousa's shopping list when he took over at the Liberty.
After featuring twice for Real Madrid's first team in the 2003/04 campaign, he moved to Sevilla where he won the UEFA Cup. In total, López made 37 starts for Sevilla, before moving to Real Mallorca in 2006.
He went on to make 24 appearances for Mallorca before being loaned out to Racing Santander. During his time at the Estadio El Sardinero, López helped the Racinguistas achieve their first-ever UEFA Cup qualification.
The former Barcelona youngster teamed up with Paulo Sousa at QPR at the end of the 2008-09 season where he made 10 appearances and scored one goal in a short but impressive spell.
He made 13 appearances for the Swans last season after picking up a lengthy ankle injury.
