Shaun MacDonald

Shaun MacDonald signed his first professional contract for the club midway through the 2005-06 season after coming through the junior and youth ranks.

Still only 20, the midfielder made his full League debut as a 17-year-old against Gillingham in the 2006/07 season. The Swansea-born product is a Welsh Under-21 international and has a bright future ahead of him.

On January 27 he made the switch to League One outfit Yeovil Town on an initial one-month loan deal in order to get some games under his belt. During his time at Huish Park he played four times and scored twice, including the winner against Huddersfield on the day that he signed.

In nine appearances for the Swans in 2008/09 he scored two goals, both of which came in his first appearance of the season against Brentford in the Carling Cup.

On June 1, 2009, he was called into the Wales senior squad for the World Cup qualifier in Azerbaijan, taking the Swans' representation to four players in John Toshack's travelling party.

He also captained the Wales Under-21's to victory against Hungary in a Euro qualifier, the youngster bagging the opening goal in the process, and also led the young Dragons in the 2-1 win against Italy at the Liberty Stadium.

On September 21, 2009, he returned to Yeovil Town for a three-month loan spell that was extended until the end of the season. He made 32 appearances and impressed enough to be offered a permanent deal by the Glovers. But he opted to sign a new contract with his beloved Swans in the summer.

After completing the pre-season with the Swans, he returned to Yeovil on loan.
