Better known as Bussy, the striker became manager Roberto Martinez's first Spanish signing during the summer when the 22-year-old moved from Espanyol on a one-year deal. A regular for Espanyol's B team in La Liga, he is also a former Spanish Under-16, 17 and Under-20 international who started his career with Mallorca.
The qualified teacher was an European Championship winner with the Spanish Under-16 team, playing in all six games alongside Liverpool's £27m striker Fernando Torres.
He also started all three games for Spain in the Under-20 World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago.
Bussy went on to score 11 goals in his debut season, including two in the game that clinched promotion at Gillingham and a hat-trick in the final home game of the season against Leyton Orient.
He started the first game of the Championship season at Charlton and made a total of 21 appearances in all competitions in 2008/09, scoring three goals in matches against Watford, Histon (FA Cup) and Preston.
