Young goalkeeper who was offered professional terms by the club at the end of the 2008/09 campaign.
The Welsh speaker had completed a two-year scholarship but started the second year by training with the first-team and even went on the summer trip to Spain. Unfortunately he suffered a bad injury to his wrist and was kept out until after the New Year.
On his return to fitness, however, Cornell continued to train with the first-team and was even used during the warm-up on matchdays. He was also named as one of the seven substitutes for the two FA Cup ties against Premiership Fulham.
At international level Cornell has been capped by Wales at Under-17 level with the last of his five appearances coming against Spain back in October 2007.
He was called into the Wales Under-21 squad and was an unused substitute for the qualifying win against Hungary before making his full Swans debut in the Carling Cup tie against Scunthorpe.
