Joined the club at the age of 16 following his release by Leicester City.
The Nottingham-born defender completed two years as a Liberty Stadium scholar and was offered his first professional contract in readiness for the 2009/10 campaign.
A big, strong defender, Grimes was a key member of the club's youth team and also a regular fixture in Colin Pascoe's reserve side.
He was loaned out to Welsh Premier League side Haverfordwest County on August 17 until the end of the 2009/10 campaign.
