Port Talbot-born front-man was offered a first professional deal in 2009.
The pacy youngster, who can also play out wide, represented Afan Lido before joining the club's Centre of Excellence.
Thomas has represented Wales at both Under-17,Under-19 and Under-21 level.
He made a huge impact while making his senior Swansea City bow by scoring in the pre-season friendly win against FC Twente last season and winning his side a penalty against the Dutch side.
Thomas then made his Championship debut as a substitute against Middlesbrough on August 15, 2009.
But with first-team opportunities limited he was loaned out to Welsh Premier League neighbours Port Talbot Town in January 2011 until the end of the season.
