A welcome break
It seems an age since we last had a game. In fact it's only been 10 days since we beat Millwall here at the Liberty Stadium in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
I think it was the right decision to call the game off at Cheltenham last Friday. Having played four games in just 11 days, the boys really needed a rest.
They worked very hard in pre-season and had played seven competitive games in the first three weeks of the season.
The break has given them the chance to recharge their batteries, work on speed and power, plus prepare themselves for another busy period that sees us play three games in eight days against Carlisle, Cheltenham and Leeds.
It will be vital again to make sure that our recovery programme is spot on in-between those three big games.
Then it's a week to prepare for another busy schedule that sees us faced with four games in the space of just 11 days against Brighton, Swindon, Leyton Orient and Wycombe (JPT).
No wonder the Spanish boys think we are mad in this country because we play so many games!

Meanwhile, the break from the Cheltenham game also gave us the perfect opportunity to put the boys through their beloved bleep test, while also studying in detail the heart-rate profiles we've been gathering from their monitors throughout the first few weeks of the season.
I'm pleased to say that Leon Britton came out as the bleep test king with an impressive score of 15.2.
On the injury front, Darren Way and Owain Tudur-Jones are both back on the training ground and close to completing their rehabilitation.
The way things are looking, they could be in line for a reserve team game within the next few weeks, which will be fantastic.
Marcos Painter also stepped back into training this week following a foot injury. While his foot was a bit stiff after the first session, we'll have to assess his progress before announcing whether he's fit enough to come into contention for a place in tonight's squad.
Well we've managed to keep Alan Tate off the training ground - for now - while he recovers from his knee injury.
Tatey has been restricted to the gym up until now, but we are hoping to step up his rehabilitation programme from Monday. Then he's due for another x-ray at the end of the week, so hopefully we can step things up again from there.
