Duffy's day for rehab
Striker Darryl Duffy joined us in the treatment room this week after picking up a groin strain against Leeds United at Elland Road.
Darryl stretched for a ball just after half-time which hit him on the leg and pulled his groin.
We've already started working hard on the rehabilitation process, but unfortunately he's going to have to sit it out for a few weeks.
He's certain to miss today's game and the visit of Swindon to the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday. He's also a doubt for the trip to Leyton Orient next Saturday, so realistically we are targeting the home game against Wycombe in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday, October 9.
The other news on the injury front is positive, however. Both Leon Britton and Andy Robinson are both back on the training ground after picking up hamstring injuries at Cheltenham.
Their rehabilitation programme is progressing really well and they are both responding at pretty much the same rate.
Hopefully, if things continue then they could come back into contention for the Leyton Orient game next Saturday.
And that just leaves the one and only Alan Tate. He has been under instructions from the consultant to spend another week in the gym before stepping up the work on his knee injury.
Hopefully he will be able to get back out on to the training field next week where it will then be a case of building up his match fitness ready for a return.
I know Tatey will think he's ready as soon as his boots touch the green, green, grass again, but we won't let him rush things.
We'll be holding him back, tying him down if necessary, to make sure he's ready for his comeback which will probably be in another two to three weeks.
Since my last notes against Carlisle, Darren Way (shin) and Owain Tudur Jones (knee) took major steps towards first team comebacks with 45 minutes each for the reserves against Cheltenham.
As the Gaffer (Roberto Martinez) reiterated after the game, they have both shown tremendous character and determination to battle back after nearly a year on the sidelines.
I'm sure, like all the staff and players, you can't wait to see them pull on a first team shirt again soon.
Nobody deserves it more.
