Pratley return a surprise to a lot of people

Posted on: Mon 23 Mar 2009

It's great to see Darren Pratley, Joe Allen and Gorka Pintado back in action following injury.

Prats made his early comeback as a late substitute against Charlton, a return which surprised a lot of people.

Joe also returned from his thigh injury ahead of schedule at Derby last Tuesday. He certainly looked to have benefited from his enforced break with a performance which earned him the man-of-the-match award from most of the media.

His ProZone stats were impressive as he covered more than 12km in the game.

Gorka certainly made an impression with his comeback from a double hernia operation at Pride Park.

His return came exactly three weeks after the operation, which is amazing when you think about it.

But that was one of the reasons we sent him to Germany for the operation. They are experts in that type of operation - a decision vindicated when El Toro came off the bench to score a late equaliser against Derby.

It's nice to see him playing without pain for a change. In fairness to him he played through the pain barrier for us over a number of weeks to get us through a hectic fixture schedule.

Now 'The Bull' is back and looking stronger and fitter than ever.

Ferrie Bodde is also looking a lot stronger following his knee operation. He is spending four sessions a day in the gym with our masseur Oscar Brau, who is proving a hard task master.

He's got a solid month's work ahead of him before he goes back to Holland for a bit of a break.

Before that though he will be seeing a specialist tomorrow where hopefully he will get the go-ahead to start a running programme soon.

Marcos Painter will also see his consultant this week on his own knee injury. He has progressed to a point where he is doing a lot more functional training.

He feels ready to start doing some light training with the rest of the lads, so hopefully he'll get some more good news from the consultant.

Skipper Garry Monk also travelled to London for a consultation on his lower back problem.

It went really well and he was given the go-ahead to step up his training again. If he doesn't pick up any symptoms, he should be available for selection again for the Crystal Palace game on Saturday.
