Swansea City's reserves made it back-to-back league victories following a 1-0 win at Plymouth Argyle.
Stephen Dobbie scored the game's only goal from the penalty spot 19 minutes from time after Besian Idrizaj was grounded by Ryan Leonard.
The striker did have two other opportunities earlier in the second period while the Pilgrims could have gone in front through Jake Baker, whose effort went inches past the post, and Ryan Brett who struck the upright.
But the Swans managed to hold on to their slender lead to move on to 10 points from their opening six matches.
Reserve team boss Colin Pascoe named trialists William Lumley and Matthew Dempsey in the starting line-up.
The 19-year-old pair arrived from the Glenn Hoddle Academy and trained with Paulo Sousa's squad on Monday ahead of the totesport.com Combination fixture at Home Park.
Lumley took his place between the sticks while Dempsey lined-up alongside Albert Serran, Radanfah Abu Bakr and Marcos Painter in defence.
Stephen Dobbie and Besian Idrizaj led the line of attack in Devon as the Swans looked to build on the win against Bournemouth three weeks ago.
The home side, meanwhile, named a strong side which boasted nine professionals, including former Swansea City goalkeeper Kyle Letheren.
Plymouth: Kyle Letheren, Ryan Leonard, Krisztián Timár, Redá Johnson (Jordan Trott, 64'), Ryan Brett; Chris Clark, Jim Paterson, Sean Kinsella, Craig Noone (Jake Baker, 55'); Liam Head (Matt Rickard, 79'), George Donnelly.
Not Used: Ollie Chenoweth (GK), Ben Gerring.
Swans: William Lumley; Albert Serran, Matthew Dempsey, Radanfah Abu Bakr, Marcos Painter, Steven Berry (Scott Evans, 23'), Matthew Collins, Adam Orme (Lee Lucas, 77'), Chad Bond, Stephen Dobbie, Besian Idrizaj.
Not Used: Daniel Sheehan, Daniel Alfei, Anthony Finselbach.
Referee: R Martin (Somerset)
The game had to wait until the 17th minute before the first proper attempt was recorded which fell to George Donnelly whose header from Craig Noone's cross was excellently turned around the post by trialist 'keeper William Lumley.
Benin international Redá Johnson sent his header wide from Noone's resulting corner while Besian Idrizaj had the visitors' best chance midway through the opening period when his effort from six-yards was blocked by Kyle Letheren.
Our man at Home Park reviews the first 25 minutes:
"It's been an evenly balanced start to this game with both teams coming close - George Donnelly forcing William Lumley into a very good save with a header and ex-Swan Kyle Letheren denying Besian Idrizaj from inside the area.
"There was an early change for the Swans with Scott Evans coming on in place of Steven Berry - the youngster went straight down the tunnel, meaning that he could have picked up an injury."
Colin Pascoe's side ended the first-half strongly with Stephen Dobbie causing problem for the home side's defence.
The Scottish striker saw his long distance free-kick turned around the post by Letheren on the half hour before seeing a shot blocked on the edge of the area with 34 minutes played.
He also played Idrizaj through on goal just before the break but the Austrian Under-21 international was dispossessed by Krisztián Timár.
First-half round-up by our man in Plymouth:
"The Swans took control of the closing stages with Stephen Dobbie coming close on two separate occasions.
"His free-kick from distance was well saved by Kyle Letheren while another effort of his was blocked on the edge of the box.
"The defence hasn't had much to do but has looked strong with William Lumley showing good positioning and distribution."
HALF-TIME: Plymouth 0 Swans 0
Following a slow start to the second period it was the home side that created the better chances to break the deadlock.
Within two minutes after the hour Plymouth came close when Jake Baker's shot flew across the face of goal and just wide before Ryan Brett's 30-yard drive bounced back off the bar.
Adam Orme had a glorious chance to open the scoring on 68 minutes, firing over from close-range after Chad Bond's original shot was blocked, but it was the Swans that went on to score the game's first goal.
Besian Idrizaj won his side a penalty after he was grounded by Ryan Leonard, Stephen Dobbie placed the ball on the spot and comfortably slotted pas Letheren in the Pilgrims' goal.
George Donnelly attempted an instand reply but his acrobatic effort was easily dealt with by Lumley.
Our man reports on the third quarter of this game:
"Things could have been different had Plymouth put away back-to-back chances shortly after the hour; Baker firing just past the post and Brett striking the upright, and then Adam Orme had an even better chance but just couldn't keep his shot down from close-range.
"That didn't matter, however, as the Swans took a 71st minute lead from the penalty spot - Idrizaj was brought down six-yards out and Stephen Dobbie stepped up to calmy and coolly finish from 12-yards.
"The Swans were doing their job at the other end, too, and a minute after taking the lead Lumley did well to deny George Donnelly from his overhead kick."
There was very little goalmouth action following Dobbie's opener as the Swans attempted to hold on to their slender lead.
Lee Lucas was introduced in place of fellow second-year scholar Adam Orme 13 minutes from time to add a bit more of tenacious strength to the midfield.
And the visitors did manage to hold on to their lead against an experienced Pilgrims' outfit to register an important three points on the road - putting to bed the ghosts of last term's 6-2 drubbing at Home Park.
Final update from South Devon:
"Following Dobbie's opener from the penalty spot the Swans stayed strong to hold on to their narrow lead.
"It was just a case of holding on to possession and they did that in fine fashion to register the win, which was only their second on the road in their last 13 attempts.
"A very good performance against an experienced side - well done to Colin Pascoe and his players."
