Luke Williams | We lacked accuracy and did not create enough

Head coach Luke Williams admitted a lack of accuracy had proved costly for Swansea City after they ended the 2023-24 campaign with a 1-0 defeat against Millwall at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Casper De Norre grabbed the only goal of the game, finding the bottom corner after Ronald had given the ball away in his own half with 18 minutes to go.

The Swans dominated possession, and saw captain Matt Grimes fail to convert a penalty, while Jamie Paterson and Ronald also had presentable chances.

But Swans boss Williams felt his side had not made enough of the control they had in the game, as their unbeaten run came to an end on the final day of the campaign.

“That was not what we had in mind at all. I think we had control, but we did not create enough chances,” he said.

“We had too many errors that led to counter-attack chances for Millwall.

“In this type of game the first goal is always going to be really important, and unfortunately we missed the penalty and then it’s avoidable.

“We make a really silly action that led to their goal, so it’s disappointing.

“We made a decent start, we had a bit of a flurry but we did not kick on.

“We were aggressive in the lead-up to the penalty, but after that the game moved away from us.”
